Closet Moths.

Everytime I eat fast food,

I think about how much I miss a home-cooked meal.

My mouth waters at the thought

Of dinner aroma

Filling up the house,

Sneaking into the room.

I dream about those sacred recipes.

When I see a moth I remember my mom.

Asking her,

Why are there so many moths in the closet?

I popped popcorn one day,

The smell makes everyone’s mouths water,

I pour a bowl for everyone.

I eat the perfect popcorn,

On the second bite,

A closet moth inside.

When I see a moth,

I think about all of the home-cooked meals,

I took for granted.

When I eat fast food,

I sometimes find

The closet moth on the second bite.
